The Oregon Affiliate
Benefits of Membership
The Oregon Affiliate of the ACNM was formed in 1978. The Affiliate was incorporated in July 2002. Currently there are over 200 practicing nurse-midwives and student midwives in Oregon. In 2003, over 14% of births were attended by Oregon’s CNM’s and the numbers are rising annually.
Advocacy
The Affiliate provides a central point for action within the political arena to protect our role as health care providers for women and their families within the state. It is a place where you can increase your knowledge about issues facing CNM's including hospital privileges, prescription writing, professional liability insurance, consumer and midwifery rights.
Network
The Affiliate meetings allow for exchange of opinions when decisions are made affecting the future of CNM's. Meetings also provide a forum through which your concerns regarding your own practice can be shared and discussed.
Stay Informed
The Affiliate officers receive information from the National Organization about issues affecting midwives as a whole. The Affiliate can then distribute this information to members and give them the opportunity for input about national midwifery issues.
