Levels of Membership and Eligibility

There are five categories of membership. They are outlined below.

Active member
- Open to: Certified Nurse-Midwives who are members of ACNM.
- Obligations: Member dues.*
- Privileges:
  - Attend membership meetings
  - Speak and make motions at those meetings
  - Vote on resolutions
  - Receive all official mailings
  - Run for office pursuant to the bylaws of the association
* Annual membership dues for chapter members who retire or who become disabled after at least 10 years of active membership shall be three-fifths of the annual membership dues.

* Annual membership dues for those in their first full year of eligibility shall be three-fifths the annual membership dues.
Associate member
- Open to: for those other than CNM/CMs or qualified students interested in midwifery and supporting the mission of ACNM. Associate members receive the Journal of Midwifery & Women's Health (including online access) and Quickeing. Non-Voting *
- Obligations: Member dues.
- Privileges:
  - Attend membership meetings
  - Speak and make motions at those meetings
  - Vote on resolutions
  - Receive all official mailings
  - Run for office except the office as Chairperson
  - Serve on committees in any capacity except as chairperson
* A member who changes from the classification of associate membership shall notify the Chapter and resume active membership at the beginning of the next membership year. Failure to comply shall cause the individual to forfeit membership.
Student member
- Open to: Students enrolled in a nurse-midwifery or midwifery education program accredited by, or with pre-accreditation status from, the ACNM Division of Accreditation or a graduate who is still eligible to complete the certification.*
- Obligations: Member dues.**
- Privileges:
  - Attend membership meetings
  - Speak at those meetings
  - Receive all official mailings
  - Serve on committees in any capacity except as chairperson
* Student members shall be given active membership for the remainder of the year in which they become certified without payment of additional dues.

** For 2005-2006 membership drive special offer of free membership Student members will be welcomed as members.
Student friend
- Open to: students interested in midwifery who are not members of the ACNM
- Obligations: None. Suggested donation
- Privileges:
  - Attend membership meetings
  - Speak at those meetings
  - Receive all official mailings
  - Serve on committees in any capacity except as chairperson

Dues

Membership status, category and expiration are determined by ACNM and correspond to the member's ACNM membership period
